| Objective / Description |
|
 |
| The Kabbubu Community Library, formed with an eye on the UNESCO manual for establishing new libraries, is a project that demands our greatest admiration. The Kabbubu Community, with help from an ever growing band of supporters, epitomises what can be achieved when focus of mind is to the fore. Many strides have been taken since Kabubbu Community Library opened in February 2003, and credit belongs entirely to the people of Kabubbu. In particular the Librarians and Library Committee and local volunteers have worked hard to deliver these achievements. The Community has responded with enthusiasm and committment.
The relationship with supporters and organisations in the United Kingdom is more than a friendship and it is hoped that many projects and aspects of the library can be brought to fruition in the years to come.
Vickie Vassie, now liaising in Uganda for A Ray of Hope, will delight in offering advice and assistance to any community who wishes to follow in the footsteps of Kabubbu.
A report on the project's most recent developments is available online: http://www.unesco.8m.com/unesco24/Report%20January,%202004.htm |

| Kabbubu Community Library is still very much in its infancy. Much has been achieved in such a short period ........ full details of all the classes, courses and community projects etc can be read on the website at www.unesco.co.uk : however, there will always be a need to add to the resources, assist the staff, search out funding, improve the fabric of the library and much more. |
