| Objectives |
The Forum will take place as part of the IIIrd World Youth Festival, which is held in the framework of the "Universal Forum of Cultures - Barcelona 2004". The Youth Forum's aim is to allow young people to discuss the violence which they encounter in their everyday lives, as well as tackling the expression of violence by young people. As part of this, participants will seek to develop "alternative languages to violence".

| Description |
The Forum's plenary debates and workshop sessions will take place at the International Convention Centre of Bacelona. The Youth Forum will address four different sub-topics, namely (i) violence as a daily language in the daily lives of young people, (ii) violence in the media and in fiction, (iii) violence as a substitute language in communication, and (iv) alternative languages to violence. The event is open to all participants of the World Youth Festival Barcelona 2004. The official programme will be complemented by side events, such as concerts, exhibitions and informal workshops. The meeting's official languages are English, French, Spanish and Catalan. Further information on logistical aspects will be available via the Festival's website: http://www.barcelona2004.org/festivaljoventut/eng/yth_en.doc
