Caritas Internationalis contributed to the International Year through its on-going activities in favour of people in need. In France, the campaign "kilomètres de soleil" invited 400 000 children aged between 7 and 11 to subscribe to the 6 points of the Manifesto 2000 and to support development projects and solidarity actions in their neighbourhood in favour of children in situation of exclusion.
