In Japan, thanks to the efforts of the National Federation of UNESCO Associations of Japan, 2 500 organizations took part in the  International Year and over one million signatures were collected on the Manifesto 2000.

The national Chinese television promoted the Manifesto 2000 and China participated in the organization of an exhibition of paintings by young people for a culture of peace.
